Becoming the Change You Hope to See

After the joy of Inauguration Day, we return to our daily work and there’s no denying that during these times we may experience some struggles. Recently, I have read several books making me aware of what truly matters in this world. We must be conscious of our environment and how we all can contribute to saving it and not causing any more harm. Also, we must strive to look at other people’s journeys and share hope. Each author featured in today’s column will give us plenty to think about.

 
lp_10greenYou will learn a lot about the effects of global warming by reading Ten-Aciously Green: Go Green in 41 Areas of Your Life (Essence of Green Publishing, $10). Author Tariana L. Common has a true passion for saving the environment and wants you to take a part in helping it too. The book includes practical tips like: Did you know using pure lemon juice would whiten your clothes? It will teach us all how to work together in saving the environment.

 
Crooked Road Straight: The Awakening of AIDS Activist Linda Jordan (Tab Brown Publishing, $15.95) shows how one woman’s journey and struggle to survive made her life a message of hope for all. Author Tina A. Brown introduces you to Linda Jordan, who had to deal with poverty, childhood molestation, rape, alcoholism, lifelong struggles with addiction, and then HIV/AIDS. In site of the troubling story, this is a wonderful book to share.

This book allows the reader to experience spiritual and emotional healing. It will minister to your hurting heart in any season.

 
Once You’ve Touched The Heart (Siri Enterprises $12.95) is a story of love and suspense. Author Iris Bolling has penned a novel of romance that will keep you engaged until the end. Meet Tracy and Jeffrey as they go on a journey of love together. You will want to find out what happens next in this page turner.
