How can I assure a beautiful color scheme throughout my wedding?
As a bride, you want fluid movement of color throughout your wedding. You want to be seen as a whole package from head to toe. So matching flowers to makeup is a logical decision. If you want your flowers to be a very bold statement with vibrant and audacious colors – bright oranges, yellows and reds – you wouldn’t want your makeup to be soft pinks. There would be a need for the same bold declaration from both sides. You want there to be touches of those colors in your makeup and flowers so that the whole palette blends well into each other: illustrating the coordination of colors throughout your whole look.
So often, brides don’t think about blending and complementing their makeup to flowers. But brides are holding flowers for fifty percent of their pictures, so why not? The statement that is made by the combination of your flowers and makeup can be so compelling. It can be the “wow factor” that makes your pictures stand out. Pictures look so much better when there is color to make them pop, either from your make-up, your flowers or both. You want the whole package to mesh well and this is achieved by having your flowers and makeup complement each other.
Also, when a guest sees that the floral color scheme matches the dresses as well as the makeup, it makes an enormous statement. You can even go as far as incorporating the color scheme into your decor, invitations, programs and thank you cards. These simple touches can go a long way. Don’t be afraid of color – embrace it!
I’m convinced! So how can I talk my bridesmaids into matching my make-up look?
Bridesmaids are supposed to be the accompaniment or the accent to the bride, from their dresses to their flowers, so their makeup should definitely follow suit. Most bridesmaids understand that it is your special day and that they are there to add to the glitz and glamour of your day. This being said, if you want them to have makeup that compliments you and makes them look wonderful then they should not have a problem with that. Why not indulge your bridesmaids in an afternoon with a makeup artist of your choice? If that’s out of your budget, take the group to a department store makeup counter for free makeovers.
