In his nine to five, Corey “Sage” Fauconier is a banking professional who wears khaki slacks and a tie, his waist-long dreadlocks pulled back.
But all other hours of the day? He’s a musician and manager who demonstrates business savvy with the ease he delivers rhymes, the best friend a hip hop hopeful may have. When Jared “J-Lord” Smith, who turned 18 this week, recently came to Sage with a contract he’d been presented, Sage drew on ten years of contract paralegal experience, and zeroed in on the clauses that concerned him. After sitting down with the company who had their eye on J-Lord’s talent, he saved the young man from a costly relationship with a company of questionable motives.
“He’s taught me a lot about copyrights and the entertainment business,” J-Lord admits. “He’s teaching me the business side.”
