I walked into a room and there stood some of my favorite people, lamenting about changes needed across the board. I listened, but before long I blurted out, “Nothing is going to change!” By the time the words spilled from my lips, my spirit was convicted and crushed. That thought was really out of order. I gasped, couldn’t believe my own ears and said audibly, “What did I just say?” It bothered me throughout the day that that negative pronouncement came effortlessly.
Scripture reminds us that we have the power of life and death in our tongues. Remember your mother cautioning you to watch your words? My folks would say, “Watch your mouth!” Well I hadn’t!
