Are you at risk for type 2 diabetes? If you are a minority, overweight, have metabolic syndrome (abnormal cholesterol, blood pressure, and triglycerides), or have a family history of type 2 diabetes, then the answer is yes. Make no mistake—anyone can be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. However, the factors above put you at a higher risk.
Thankfully, type 2 diabetes is not a death sentence. If you have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, think of it as a wake up call and start getting your health on the right track.
What does it mean to have type 2 diabetes?
When you have type 2 diabetes, your body doesn’t make enough insulin or uses insulin improperly. This may prevent blood sugar from entering your cells and cause sugar to build up in your blood; also known as insulin resistance.
