5 Steps to Prevent Childhood Obesity

According to the latest study by the National Health and Nutrition Examination, an estimated 16 percent of children and adolescents ages 6-19 years old are overweight. The same study indicates that 70 percent of these children will be obese as adults. To avoid raising an obese child, talk about health while your child is young. It is never too early to introduce children to healthy eating and exercise habits. It’s also never too late to start. If your child is already obese, start these steps immediately. There is never a wrong time to begin making better choices, especially when it involves children.

 

Esteem

Tell children how beautiful they are. No matter what size, shape, height or weight, always praise them for being who they are right now. Kids are like sponges soaking up every compliment and using it for their self-esteem.
