You may be new to the gym, or maybe you’ve been going for years. No matter what gym you choose, there are rules to be followed. They may not be plastered on the wall or explained in your membership packet, but there is an unspoken set of guidelines that should always be followed.
- Eat fast food elsewhere. Most people cannot eat that food and not gain a pound. They are usually at the gym trying to burn it off. Be considerate and leave the “smell good” food for another time. Also, try avoiding the food channels on the community TV. News and sports channels are usually safe for everyone.
- Respect others wearing i-Pods and head devices. If you wave, make eye-contact, or yell and they do not remove their earphones, chances are they do not want to talk. This could be their only time to themselves so respect it and get in touch with them on their way out.

I have just purchased a weslo treadmill, and I am questioning if prolonged use will damage my knees and if so is there any methods i can use to avoid that?

It really depends on which model you have bought and how much you intend on using it. Some of the weslo treadmills have impact absortion or cushioning to protect the knees and joints while the others may not be so giving. If you are walkig or jogging, you should be ok for a while so long as you wear quality shoes. Shoes are very important when trying to protect the knees and joints. If you are not sure what type to wear or buy, go to a sporting good’s store or one that specializes in running/walking shoes. Weslo’s are not intended for excessive running, seasoned runners, athletes, or extreme usage.
