To celebrate the Richmond Battle of the Bands, which kicks off Thursday night at the Triple, we’ve got a triple-header of must-see events.
1. Battle of the Bands
Let the Battle begin! Each Thursday from Jan. 28 to April 1, three bands will show off their performance skills at the Triple, 3306 W. Broad St. Fifteen bands total will compete for contest prizes, including studio time and gear. The Finale is at The Playing Field June 12.
One group entering the competition this Thursday represents the inclusive nature of the local music scene: The Resistance 5.1, led by Corey “Sage” Fauconier, melds hip hop, rock and funk for a sound that crosses genres. Although his band will be competing, regardless of whose name is announced at the end of the night, Sage says the Richmond Battle of the Bands is a catalyst to a strong music scene and an element of a better community.
