Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority will present awards to a distinguished group of achievers July 11 at the America’s Center in St. Louis. Among honorees are Surgeon General Regina Benjamin, Liberian president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and rapper and entrepreneur Jay Z and local leader Peggy LeCompte. The St. Louis event will be held during the Sorority’s convention, which takes place from July 9-16. The honorees hail from all over the globe and have excelled in diverse fields but are bound by their commitment to excellence and passion for service.
The Richmond area is home to many AKA members.
