Sycamore Rouge, Petersburg’s Professional Theatre for the Community, produces five main theatrical productions each year that span from the classical canon to new American work. They also present a diverse concert season, featuring jazz, blues, and world music, with a focus on promoting local artists. They aim to promote creativity, help revitalize downtown Petersburg, to strengthen the community through communal arts experiences and to stimulate the hearts and minds of the community. Following the production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Sycamore Rouge starts its 2010-2011 season in September with Speak of Me As I Am. The theatre is committed to keeping ticket prices well below market average, with its ongoing series of free outreach events, making the theatre accessible to everyone.
