A team of three University of Richmond undergraduates recently won a video contest sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. Winners of the competition, called “Share the Wealth,” are Senior economics majors Siyu Serena Ding of Rockville, MD, Alex George of Burlington, VT, and Tyler McLean of Gaylordsville, CT with their project, “Spend Money You Don’t Have, Live in Your Mom’s Basement.”

The Richmond Fed conducted the contest to promote financial education among young people. UR students competed against teams from Virginia Commonwealth, Virginia State and Virginia Union universities. All were required to create a 30-second video promoting financial education among young people. Ding, George and McLean were advised by Dean Croushore, UR’s economics department chair.
