Celebrating its sixteenth season, the Richmond Boys Choir (RBC), Richmond’s Ambassadors of Song, announces their performance schedule for the 2011-2012 holiday season. They will open their public events schedule singing holiday classics on Saturday, December 3 at 7:00 p.m. at Charles City High School located at 10039 Courthouse Road in Charles City. Their appearance is being presented by the Charles City Cultural Alliance.
Led by interim artistic director Craig Matthews, who brings a wealth of experience as director of music from many Richmond churches, the RBC will also present their 15th annual concert, featuring classical and traditional music as well as holiday favorites, on Saturday, December 10 at 2:00 p.m. at the Richmond Public Library (Main), in the Dooley Foyer. The library is located at 101 E. Franklin Street in the heart of downtown Richmond.
“We are excited about this annual tradition,” Matthews said, “this season we hope to introduce some new arrangements of familiar carols, as well as feature more challenging material.”
You will know the reason for the season when the choir presents a full musical concert at the Office of Cultural Arts Programs Holiday Open House sponsored by the City of Richmond. In addition to the concert, there will be give-a-ways and refreshments. The performance will take place on Thursday, December 15 at 7:00 p.m. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. at Pine Camp Arts & Community Center, located at 4901 Old Brook Road in Richmond.
In October, the choir kicked off its fall season with a performance at the Second Street Festival where local, talented musician Joseph Wimbush was introduced as Assistant Director.
