Virginia State University’s softball team swept through the three-day CIAA Softball Round-Up undefeated at the Walnut Creek Softball Complex in Raleigh, ask NC that concluded on Sunday, cialis March 11, viagra 100mg 2012. The Lady Trojans were the only team to finish with a 6-0 mark. They capped the Round-Up by knocking off defending CIAA champion Winston-Salem State University 6-5 in the last game on the third and final day.
The Lady Trojans’ softball head coach Torrie Lashley has guided her team to their first ever sweep of the Southern Division at the CIAA Softball Round-Up. Virginia State defeated Saint Augustine’s 9-8 and Johnson C. Smith 8-5, both on Friday. Then they went on to shut out Fayetteville State 3-0 on Saturday, along with an 11-5 victory over Livingstone on the second day. The Lady Trojans capped the Round-Up with a 6-5 win against Winston-Salem State and 9-5 win versus Shaw on the third and final day of the event. VSU moves to 8-7 overall this season.
Samantha Edwards Earns All-American Honors
Virginia State’s Samantha Edwards (senior/ Elmont, NY) returned to Petersburg, VA from the NCAA Div II Track & Field Championships (Mankato, MN) and added to her All-American Trophy case by finishing fourth in the women’s 200m dash (Edwards was 8th last year).This brings her total All-American trophies to five. Edwards posted a time of 24.26 seconds, her second fastest time of the year and only one one-hundredth of a second off her own school record.
Late Rally Springs Trojans Past Rams, 7-5
The Trojans baseball team scored four runs in the final three innings to defeat the Rams of Winston-Salem State University 7-5, at Whaley Colbert Field on Sunday, March 11. RHP William Tapp picked up the win for the Trojans in relief and outfielder Howard Spencer and infielder Nicholas Christopher both doubled in the eighth inning against the Rams.
