Parents are urged to get their children immunized and ready for school early before school starts.
In addition to required immunizations for children just entering the school system and for daycare and kindergarten, Tdap booster vaccination is required by law for students entering the sixth grade.
Every year since 2007, when this law went into effect, hundreds of 6th graders have been turned away on the first day of school and are not allowed to attend classrooms until parents can provide documentation showing proof of a Tdap vaccination for the student.
The Tdap vaccine protects against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (whooping cough).
OUR IMMUNIZATION CLINICS ARE FREE, but please bring your child’s shot records and insurance information.
