In reference to nighttime light (from the moon), NU scientists found that this has a relatively small effect on BMI because it is not as bright at 10 lux or lower. It is thus proven that daytime light, especially in the morning from about 6 a.m. to noon, affects BMI because the body is exposed to greater amounts of light and causes a greater change in natural life cycles (eating and sleeping). In other words, greater exposure to light early in the morning when light is the brightest causes individuals to eat better (not partaking in binge eating) and sleep better. This has a direct result on BMI because it helps it to stay low by having healthier eating and sleeping habits, which ultimately reduces metabolic behaviors of the body (i.e. how often the body gains weight).
