Marshe Renet Wyche and Casey Longyear own Rumors Boutique, an independent fashion shop near Virginia Commonwealth University. As young entrepreneurs, Marshe and Casey are growing a small business in a tough economy, while overcoming the normal obstacles – as well as some unexpected ones. “Surviving the recession was and is very hard work,” admits Marshe.
But these 24-year old women know that adaptation is the key to survival. To meet their customers’ needs while respecting their wallets, Rumors recently transformed into a consignment shop. Marshe says proudly, “I can dress any woman and man for under 40 dollars and that’s from top to bottom, including shoes.”
The pair has traveled all around the globe working with fashion. “I take style photos from West Virginia to Eastern Belgium,” quips Marshe. “We just got back from Europe and we are going to China this summer to launch our first line of affordable clothing for the recession chic girl in all of us.”
