Among wine drinkers, there will forever be a debate of what tops the better wines – corks or screw caps. From my experience, I believe that you will find great quality wines in both categories. Don’t limit yourself. Find what you like and share the experience.
However, I like screw cap wines for several reasons. After experiencing several bad corks break midway out of the bottle and alternatively, not being able to find the corkscrew the day after my husband Bill uses it, I find it refreshing to always be able to open a great bottle of capped wine. After a long day at work, who wants to look for the wine opener or risk having the cork break? Or even worse, having bits of cork in your glass? Corks also expose the content of the bottle to air which occasionally can taint the wine and give it slight vinegar taste.
