Although the “cash” won’t actually cross your hands, the U.S. House and Senate have both approved the bill popularly known as Cash-for-Clunkers. The initiative was borrowed from similar European programs and is bolstering car sales and helping the environment at the same time by removing old vehicles from the roads and replacing them with ones that are more efficient with fewer carbon emissions. If you are thinking of trading in an old car for a new one, you may qualify for a rebate of $3500 to $4500. The program recently received an additional $2 billion. But you need to act now. The offer’s only good until Nov. 1 or when the funding runs out.
