At the start of a new year, we typically watch our friends and family, and let’s face it – ourselves – make resolutions to live healthier lifestyles, knowing that as the months progress, we will probably fall off the fitness wagon. And it always leaves us wondering: Why can’t we stick to our guns when it comes to our health?
Natalie Foster once felt the same way. A self-proclaimed “non-runner” and mother of five, she doubted she had what it takes to complete the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k, which happens every March in Richmond. Now, three 10k’s and a half-marathon later, she reflects on how The YMCA Training Team helped her maintain the lifestyle and transform her self-image in the process.
“I knew I couldn’t do it on my own,” Natalie recalls. “But I put my faith in the YMCA 10k Training Team to get me across the finish line. From the first day, it was a great experience. It made me want to continue my running journey!”
