The American Heart Association and the U.S. government declared February American Hearth Month for Americans to learn about ways to improve their heart health.
One way to ensure your heart stays healthy is to have a heart-healthy diet. The Huffington Post’s Healthy Living section has created a list of heart-healthy foods health-conscious people should try to work into their diet.
For African-Americans, this is particularly important. African-Americans are particularly prone to conditions like diabetes, high cholesterol and hypertension, which can lead to heart complications and disease.
The Huffington Post’s list includes food items like tomatoes, olive oil, pistachios and cantaloupes.
You can read about how each of these food items help you and your heart here.
