There’s all kind of advice on how to live a longer, healthier life. There are the expected tips: eat healthy, exercise, avoid unnecessary stress and try to be as positive as possible.
But some experts now give some more untraditional (and easy to follow) advice. According to new research, some things, like eating chocolate or drinking red wine can actually help you live longer.
Red wine can help with cardiovascular health, protect eye muscles from weakening, protect cells and help stabilize blood sugar levels. Chocolate, especially dark chocolate, is full of flavonoids, which also protect cells from aging.
Experts also can help with taking this advice and applying it to your everyday life. Stress is a leading cause to serious conditions, like heart disease and hypertension, so it’s important to try to avoid too much. Between managing busy lives, it can be hard to know how to do this. An infographic curated by The Greatist cites experts’ advice that says try limited your work week to 40-50 hours a week. If that’s not possible, make the extra effort to leave work at work and give your all when you’re there. By being dedicated to something like a job, you can create purpose and boost your self-esteem.
