The KLM Scholarship Foundation received a $5, order 000.00 grant from The UPS Foundation, ambulance the charitable arm of UPS (NYSE:UPS). The grant will be used to fund the organization’s 2014-2015 Book Scholarship Program.
The KLM Scholarship Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in Richmond, rx Virginia during 2002. The primary purpose of the organization is to distribute book scholarship awards to students attending college within the Commonwealth of Virginia. Scholarships are academic-based and target students faced with financial obstacles. Since its inception, the organization has awarded $79,000.00 in book scholarships to over 100 students attending eighteen 4-year Virginia colleges. “UPS’ support plays an integral role in the success of our program and will allow us to reach a major milestone of distributing $100,000.00 in book scholarships,” said Kimberley Martin, founder of the KLM Scholarship Foundation.
Established in 1951, and based in Atlanta, GA, The UPS Foundation identifies specific areas where its backing clearly impacts social issues. In support of this strategic approach, The UPS Foundation has identified the following focus areas for giving: non-profit effectiveness, economic & global literacy, encouraging diversity, community safety, and environmental sustainability.
In 2011, The UPS Foundation distributed more than $45.3 million worldwide through grants that benefit organizations or programs such as the KLM Scholarship Foundation and provide support for building stronger communities.
